Professor Sean Ruiz

 With over 20 years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA experience, a third degree black belt under Carlson Gracie Jr.He also is a first degree black belt in Judo under Nathan Goltz. Professor Sean is honored to now head the BJJ program at Carlson Gracie Riverside. In 2024 he earned his Muay Thai Kru certificate under William Sriyapai. He has formerly brought his own experience as a professional mixed martial artist to fighters and students of all ages at multiple academies. He also provides specialty training for military, police and SWAT. Whether for self defense, fitness or professional training, his passion for making each student the best versions of themselves on and off the mats with simplistic, effective techniques and his particularly brutal style of leg locks has earned him a respected reputation for producing aggressive and talented fighters.

Coach Tony

My name is Coach Tony and I have been training martial arts for all my life. I am a professional MMA fighter with a lot of experience in the cage and ring. I can help you reach your goals, and have fun doing it!

Dr. Julie Reints

My name is Julie Reints, I am a blue belt in jiu jitsu and black belt in shotokan karate (1st degree black belt). I'm operations manger and coach the junior's beginner and advanced bjj classes. When I'm not on the mats, I'm running Dissertation Soap and teaching STEM science classes.

Coach Pat

Coach Pat is a brown belt in jiu jitsu and has trained with Sean Ruiz since he was a white belt. An experienced competitor and coach, he teaches Friday night bjj class and hosts Sunday open mat. 

Sensei Nathan Goltz

Nathan Goltz is a godan (5th degree black belt). He started judo at age 4 and has also studied karate in which he holds a shodan (1st degree black belt) as well as kendo and muay thai. As a toddler he was drawn to the video martial arts game series Double Dragon. Nathan became a Junior Olympic National Judo Champion several times. After graduating high school he went on to study at the International Budo University and the Kodokan in Japan. Upon his return from Japan In 2005, Nathan was given a scholarship to become a member of the Cumberland College Judo Team. Today he is a Summa Cum Laude Business Graduate of University of La Verne working as the Outreach Specialist for InnovAge, Senior Care Services for Living Independently.https://goltzjudo.com/nathangoltz.htm

Coach David Reyes

Hello! I’m Coach David. I have been involved in jiu-jitsu for the last twelve years. I can help your little one start their path in this sport. I teach classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4 PM. My class is accessible to everyone from 4 to 6 years old. I look forward to helping your child enjoy this sport!

Coach Jason Sexton

Jason is a lieutenant with a large Southern California law enforcement agency with over 22 years of law enforcement experience. He has worked a variety of assignments throughout his career. Jason is a brown belt under Professor Sean Ruiz and has been training Brazillian Jiu Jitsu since March 2014. He is also a Yonkyu (Green Belt) in Judo. Jason is a POST certified Defensive Tactics Instructor and is AICC certified. Jason instructs our First Responders Class and coaches our youth class.

Coach Justin Synder

Justin is a Sergeant with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and has been a sworn deputy over 20 years. He has a background in patrol, gangs, and narcotics enforcement. Justin is a brown belt under professor Sean ruiz and has been training Jiu jitsu since March, 2013. Justin is a California POST certified defensive tactics instructor, AICC certified, and certified GST instructor. Justin instructs our First Responders class and coaches our youth class.
